Her first trip!

Gosh do we ever have a LOT of packing to do tomorrow! We're hoping to leave sometime mid-afternoon for our Christmas trip to see Scotty's family. I have such mixed feelings about it.....I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I just pray that everything goes well with our girl and that she's good in the car, etc.
Today she had a good time hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. We just had a relaxing afternoon watching Food Network and just hanging out at my house. Grandma read her a book (she loves being read to) and I'm gonna attempt to post a couple pics.
I love my girl sooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!

She's growing up....

....too fast! Guess what she did tonight for the first time? ROLLED OVER! I had her on her tummy (for "tummy time") and she kept pushing up on her little foot and finally she got enough momentum to roll over onto her back. I can't believe it! Before we know it she'll be crawling and getting into everything; we're gonna have to keep eagle eyes on her then!!
Today her Auntie Steph came to spend time with her and we had such a fun day. Steph's co-worker, John, was in the area so he stopped by and we all went out for lunch. John is not quite 40 years old yet and he's a GRANDPA already! How trippy is that?! His granddaughter is just a couple weeks older than Lissy and I hear she's a real cutie. Anyway...then we came back and Lissy showed Auntie Steph how good she is at batting at the dangly toys on her floor gym. She was battin' and babblin' and cooin' and squeakin' and being just impossibly adorable, as usual! And that must've worn her right out cuz after that she laid by Auntie Steph and fell fast asleep for a couple hours while I made sugar cookies. ; )
And tomorrow, her grandma and grandpa are coming to see her and she always LOVES hanging out with them! And Friday we leave for our Christmas trip to Green Bay to spend time with her other G&G, aunts, uncles and cousins. I'm still pretty nervous about how our first trip with her will go, but we'll just take things moment by moment and she is SUCH an amazingly good baby that I'm sure she'll do fine. We're gonna set up her portable crib in the room that I'll be sleeping in, so it'll be nice to have her in there with me - I'm actually really looking forward to that!
I am sooooo thrilled to have this precious little sweetheart with us this Christmas!!! This time of the year has always been my favorite, but now it's just SO much more special and meaningful and HAPPY because we have our baby girl with us!!

Drooling and knawing and ouch...oh my!!

I honestly think she's teething already! I cannot believe it.....She's not even quite three months old!!
For the past few days she's been showing major signs of teething, and today I felt her gums real good and lo and behold - I feel some little pointy spots. I got some great advice from some forum friends - like teething tablets, freeze a wet washcloth and let her knaw on that, and even let her chew on an unopened FlavorIce bar.
Oy!
I can't wait to take a picture of her with her first toofer!

A new friend

She was having a ball with this reindeer this morning, and I got a great picture of her playing with him! Just look at that SMILE!!

She squeezed my nose!!

Lots of times!! Her daddy taught her how to squeeze his nose and now she does it to me, too. She reached up and squeezed my nose like six times in a row tonight! What a RIOT!!

We spent another fun overnight stay at my mom and dad's on Wednesday. She just eats up all the attention from them and from her Auntie Steph and cousin Kenzie. Her grandpa LOVES to hold her and she loves to lay by him. I'm gonna try to post a couple pictures here of him holding her - I hope it works. With Blogger, you just never know if posting pictures is gonna work.

I don't mean to always be so sappy in these blog entries, but DANG do I love this girl. More every day. I never knew the magnitude of a mother's love for her child until I held her in my arms for the first time. There's this quote that I keep thinking about that is SO true: "When you decide to have a baby, you decide to forever wear your heart on your sleeve." Alyssa has my heart, forever.

WOW. She is REALLY getting a personality now!! She's already at that point where she smiles hugely at me when I go to get her out of her crib in the mornings. It melts my heart SO much that I think it must be in a little red puddle on the floor.
Ya know what she did this morning? I was just holding her on the couch while we waited for Daddy to wake up...and she grabbed my pointer finger and stuck it right in her little mouth! Silly bub!
I thought I would hate changing diapers. I don't mind it a bit, because almost every diaper change means I get more grins and giggles and she gets lots of talking to and belly zerberts! The dirty dipe is just a great excuse to spend fun time with my girl.
I truly love her more every day.
